The Importance of Halal Standards In North America
The Importance of Halal Standards In North America
Halal-conscious consumers in western societies, particularly in the United States, face unique challenges. The overwhelming majority of these consumers ascribe to varying schools of thought and understandings pertinent to what makes a thing Halal. These differences pose challenges to the unity of the masses around the idea of halal standardization. Attempts and efforts of yesteryear tend to marginalize, limit, and minimalize valid opinions of the varying schools to a "one size fits all" ideology. Thus, all variant interpretations are reduced to the most strict position being the only acceptable interpretation, which does not enhance the dynamism inherent within halal related scripture.
The Halal Integrity Protection Standards are tailored to directly address this problem and provide a simpler, more effective solution. It is not only comprehensive, and canonically rooted in the fundamental texts, but also inclusive and considerate of the varying view points. This is achieved via the Scopes of permissibility.
